Milan Fall / Winter 2006 Wrapup IV

Barneys Girl and I have both been so busy preparing for back-to-school recently that our posts have been a bit irregular. As I'm blogging in London right now, Barneys Girl is on a flight for her semester in Paris. Anyways, my little notes on Milan:

Emilio Pucci
- Vibrant with a youthful vibe.- Original Pucci pattern is not only in black & white, but is also in fruity cocktail mixes.
- Cute short dresses which are eye-catching and stylish -looks like there's plenty for socialites to choose from next season!

Dolce & Gabbana

- A lot of rather unpleasant and uncomfortable looking corsets with complimentary skirts or pants. I don't get how the Dominatrix look can be percieved as stylish.
- Absolutely love the black dress and purple flower that Caroline Trentini is wearing, (see look #2 above.) Sexy without looking slutty.
- Seriously weird swimsuits which look more like knights' armours.
- Some PVC or patent leather-made clothes. Wouldn't that be really hot for summer?
- The collection ends with a range of debateable clothing.
- The dress on the left is cute, but the outfit on the right just brings back terrible images from that fashion period when clothes looked like PJs.

Fendi

- Love this collection. Such stylish combinations of colours and shapes, not to mention innovative use of material. Sometimes it's easy to understand why some call Lagerfeld a fashion genius.
- Love the simple colour palette: black, white, shocking pink, navy, cream and silver.
- There is a LOT of super loveable cocktail dresses for all ages.

Avril apologizes

Avril Lavigne has apologized for spitting and swearing at photographers as she left her birthday party in LA on Tuesday (read story here). "I'd like to sincerely apologize for my behavior with the paparazzi," Lavigne said. "It's trying at best to deal with their insistent intrusions. I meant no offense to my fans, whose relationship I truly value. I have and will always to out of my way for my fans. My behavior was a reaction to the persistent attack from the paparazzi."

Eva and Tony: dunzo

Eva Longoria and Tony Parker have ended their relationship, according to a friend of the couple. "They did break up. It's amicable," the source told People mag. "They are talking and trying to figure the best course of action for their future. They are trying to work things out. It's distance and demanding careers and not living in the same city. It didn't happen yesterday. It's been going on for a while." In a statement issued earlier yesterday, a rep for the Desperate Housewives actress said, "Eva and Tony are going through a very difficult time right now, just like any other couple with extremely demanding careers."

More bad press for Lindsay

Lindsay Lohan has yet to acknowledge the chauffeur who found and returned her lost Hermes bag at Heathrow last month. The driver was promised a reward or thank-you note from the actress by her rep after he turned over the bag - the contents of which were reportedly worth about a million dollars - but has yet to hear from the star. "They haven't gotten back to me," the chauffeur told PageSix.com. "Not a word. She seems like a nice girl and she was pleased to get the bag back - it was full of diamonds and bracelets and necklaces. But it's really disappointing. I'd like to hear from her with maybe just a 'thanks very much.' Her people took my address and phone number and said they'd be in touch. I know these stars need a good looking-after, but she could have easily just spoke to me on the phone."

Selma's new guy

Selma Blair has moved on from estranged husband Ahmet Zappa and was seen getting cozy with her new man in LA this week. Blair met actor Johnny Messner in 2002 on the set of The Sweetest Thing and the two were reportedly "making out and all over each other at the Chateau Marmont," according to a source.

Madonna's big bucks

Madonna has broken the Guiness World Record as the highest paid female singer in the world, after earning $50 million in 2004. The 2007 edition of the Guiness book names Nicole Kidman as having the highest salary per minute for an actor after the Oscar-winner made $3.71 million for a four-minute Chanel ad, and Oprah Winfrey as the highest-paid person on TV. Janet Jackson tops the list of the world's most-searched for female on the Internet while Brad Pitt was the most searched-for male.
