The Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants

I just went to a sneak preview of The Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants and it was awesome! Based on Ann Brashares' The Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants book series, it is a story about friendship, love and growing up. The perfect combination for a light summer chick flick!

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

Starring Alexis Bledel, Amber Tamblyn, Blake Lively and America Ferrera, this story is about how these girls found an pair of Levi's in a thrift store that magically fits all of them. And trust me-they have vastly different body types!

They decided to share these jeans amongst them during the summer all over the globe. And things happens when wearing these jeans. It first goes to Greek with Lena where she falls into the sea and nearly drowns- back home to Maryland bringing Tibby together with the most unexpected person- to Virginia where Carmen confronts her father-and finally to a soccer camp in Mexico with Bridget whose determined to get what she wants!

While it may be supremely sappy and cheesy at times, their friendship is heart warming. I am completely jealous. If only there really is a pair of Levi's that would fit all me and my friends-esp when they look as hot as that!! I can go on and on about this, but I don't want to ruin it for you. Go find out for yourself when it comes out in the cinema June 1-and report back!

Amusement Park Fashion

So last weekend I finally did something that was NOT going downtown and shopping. I woke up at 7am on Saturday and went to Six Flags! The night before, I was trying to decide what to wear to an amusement park and realised that I had no idea! So the next day, while waiting in the many lines one finds in an amusement park, I observed the fashion and came to this conclusion: amusement park fashion is practical, casual and photogenic.

Take center stage when taking group pictures in a bright colored tee (i.e. yellow as in one of the "it" colors this season). And what better then THE Ralph Lauren Skinny Polo that comes in a gazillion different beautiful bright colors?

But if THAT seems too formal and too hot for an amusement park, try these contrasting colored embroidered tanks from Urban Outfitters. Incidently this is also perfect for matching with the very colorful skirts you bought this season. I see a lot of girls on campus wearing tanks with their skirts. In fact, I bought a yellow and orange one myself recently for $9.90 on sale at UO!

To be prepared for all weathers, bring along a cute hoodie. Like this Angel hoodie by Juicy Couture. They do make very bright and very nice hoodies afterall.

Pair these up with a pair of dark denim jeans, like these very sexy Seven's. Incidently, I just saw these the other day at Nordstrom on sale for $99.90. If only I was a size 24 or 28. . .

As tempting as it is to wear flips flops and sandals in such nice spring weather, DO NOT do so to an amusement park. Because you will just end up having very dirty and disgusting feet having to take them off for all the rides-EEEW. So wear actual shoes! But keep your cool with these Pumas that are half shoes half sandals.

Protect yourself from the UV with this Abercrombie cap. Apart from looking cool and protection, you have the extra bonus of having tidy hair after rides-unlike those messy windblown hair you see on people getting off the Deja Vu!

Formal Special IV: The Super Designers

By now, I am sure most of you have realised that the days of the big, long, poofy prom dresses are gone. While those poofy dresses have always been the prom tradition , the general consensus now is for something more low keyed, trendy and unique. Afterall, it is THE night, and god forbid you should blend in with the rest of the crowd! Personally, even though I couldn't live without the little black dress, I would go for any color BUT black. There is only one prom in our lives afterall, and why waste it playing safe, right? And since we are reliving our formals here, here is what Harrods girl and I would wear if price was no object:

Sleek long and strapless white dresses with black prints, by Carolina Herrera and Luca Luca respectively.

Elegant gold dresses by Chanel and Matthew Williamson. I just ADORE that gold dress by MW. Its just soo sleek and beautifully fitted.

Fun, flowy dresses both by Chloe. As coolchiq says, Chloe can do no wrong. Besides, if that blue dress is good enough for Mischa Barton, it is good enough for prom.

And unique and fun dresses by the masters of dresses, Oscar de la Renta and Vera Wang. The poofy blue dress would be sooo fab! Ah. . . dreams are so much fun. What would YOUR dream dress be if money was no object?

Formal Special III: Betsey Johnson

Typically one has always related pink dresses to prom, probably because one stereotypes the prom girl to be a very girly girl. And when it comes to a pink prom, who better to turn to then Betsey Johnson? Admitedly not everyone can stomach her signature over the top girliness everyday on their mobile phones, but if there is one night in your life you want to be girly, it has got to be prom night! I am especially fond of Betsey, since my own prom dress was made by her. And Betsey knows her dresses. Her sexy silhouettes, hippie inspired flowing fabrics, whimsical detailing and fab fitted dresses are legendary.

Somehow, Betsey's designs and concept reminds me of one of my childhood cartoons-the one and only Betty Boop! It could be her girliness, her sexiness or her whimsy. I don't know. But I digress. Here are some of Betsey's creations this season (I don't know WHY they would model their clothes with such a scary looking mannequin, but if you look pass that you will see the potential of these dresses)):

Her signature pink dresses! Note the subtle patterns on the dresses and the fur trim and pink bow additions. Are they not just the cutest and prettiest things? My own prom dress was a alternating shade of pink with slanted rows of diamonds on it.

Betsey's little black dresses are genius too! And the details- the embroidered flowers on the first, the sequinns on the second one and the lace trims of the last one- absolute genius!!

Betsey doesn't just make pink and black dresses. The flowy blue dress, yellow diamond encrusted dress and the floral patterned dress is absolutely gorgeous, with her signature feminine touch and attention to detail. I esp love the patterned dress, because it is just soo unqiue and different.

Formal Special II: A.B.S

Another of my favourite dress brands are A.B.S dresses by Allen Schwartz. This brand is absolute genius when it comes to dresses, I got both my graduation dress and my recent Fall Formal dress from there. A.B.S by Allen Schwartz was lauched in 1982, and was instantly hailed as the "master of trend" by the media and fashion buyers. Having been one of the original founders of Espirit, Allen has a way of giving the latest trends the twist it needs to be unique and wearable. A.B.S dresses range in price from $99-400, a wide enough range to have something for everyone. Here are some of our favourite pieces this season:

Ah, the flowy goddess look again with soft bright colors of the blue sky and the orangey sunset. I love how the colors just fade into each other. And that hankerchief dress style-its very similar to the one I had for fall formal! Except mine was purple with a huge flower pin in the middle.

And one must not forget these classical evening gowns. Although the style of it is very classical, as you can see there is always a twist here and there to give some life and trendiness into these timeless pieces. I love the black dress, its just sooo elegantly fitted! And THAT ladies and gentlemen, is why I love A.B.S dresses!
