Chris Brown has been charged with two felonies: assault and making criminal threats in the alleged beating of Rihanna in February.
Brown could face up to four years and eight months in jail if convicted. The R&B singer is expected enter a plea today. Despite the upcoming proceeding, rumors are swirling that Rihanna and Brown have reconciled.
On January 20th the songstress will headline the Recording Industry Association of America's charity ball benefiting Feeding America. She'll be joining the likes of Will Smith who says he will also be in D.C. for the Inauguration. ""We'll go there and just cry - probably two, three days in a row. Just lots of crying. We'll probably cheer a lot, too," he told reporters at the L.A. premiere of Seven Pounds.
Sneak Peek - Rihanna's new ad for Gucci's 4th annual campaign benefiting UNICEF. The new ads won't hit magazines until December, but until then, take a look while the songstress models luxury items from Gucci's "Tattoo Heart" collection. Thoughts?
Last night at Universal City, the MTV Movie Awards were a happenin'. As celebs graced the gold carpet, it was really all about those who took home the golden bucket of popcorn. Funnyman Mike Myers hosted the soiree while big winners included Johnny Depp, who took home awards for both Pirates and Sweeney Todd, Juno's Ellen Page for Best Female Performance, Hairspray's Link Larkin (Zac Efron) for Breakout Star, Will Smith for Best Male Performance in I am Legend, Iron Man for Best Summer Movie So Far and Transformers for the Best Movie. With hot performances from Coldplay and the Pussycat Dolls, the stars came out for a much-talked about awards show.
SJP channeled her inner Carrie Bradshaw with an amazing dress, jewels, ankle-high boots and Stanford, Lindsay Lohan made a glamorous appearance in purple, (she even had a Marilyn moment on the carpet!) Rihanna and "good friend" Chris Brown (after his dance off with Myers) sat very close to each other throughout the whole show, The Hills are apparently still alive, the Best Kiss awardees Briana Evigan and Robert Hoffman definitely proved that they deserved the prize, Adam Sandler sang his own tribute after earning the Generation Award and Megan Fox gave the best plug for the sequel to Transformers. Overall, a very entertaining evening!
The orange carpet was all a buzz this past weekend as the stars turned out for Nickelodeon's Annual Kids Choice Awards Saturday night. Miley Cyrus showed up with her peace sign in tow, Rihanna and Chris Brown once again denied that they are actually a couple and Cameron Diaz fit right in with the young crowd. Hosted by Jack Black and his many a green outfit, the most coveted prize of the night, the honor of getting slimed, went to Indiana Jones himself, Harrison Ford, as well as Pirates star Orlando Bloom.
America Ferrera shimmers in gold
Cameron Diaz was honored with the Wannabe Award (even better to her than winning the Big Burp Award the previous year)
Heroes star Hayden Panettiere is just that, a hero to her many young fans
Rihanna successfully pulling of yet another amazing outfit, look at those shoes, the hair!
Teen heartthrobs the Jo Bros give their fans something to swoon over
Miley Cyrus flashes the peace sign before rocking out to one of her hit songs later in the evening
Carrie Underwood is a gorgeous girl, but she looks soooo Stepford. Someone PLEASE condition her hair! Please! It's aging her. And this Zuhair Murad dress is gorgeous, but IMO, it just takes the floral fad WAY too far.
Speaking of hair don'ts -- Oy. Beyonce, girl. Fix. Your. Hair. This ice capades gown created some total weird-ass boob dysmorphia, and the hair looked SO frazzled.
I expected more from Rihanna. Don't get me wrong, she almost always looks like a living doll, but in this blue Zac Posen piece? I dunno, dawg.Ques que ce "phoned in"?
With performances by Beyonce and Tina Turner, Rihanna, Kanye's emotional tribute to his "mama," and Amy Winehouse's much-anticipated (via-satellite) performance, (not to mention her shout-out to incarcerated hubby Blake) the Grammys were definitely something to tune into last night.
Although not present in L.A., but rather in her hometown of London, Winehouse almost had a clean sweep, winning five out of the six awards she was nominated for, including record of the year, song of the year, and best new artist.
Kanye dominated the Grammys as well, winning four awards, including best rap album and best rap solo performance. Not only did he pay tribute to his late mother Donda in song, but also spoke to her in his acceptance speech.
Carrie Underwood went home with two awards, best female vocal performance and best country song for "Before He Cheats" and Alicia Keys, who opened the show singing with a virtual Frank Sinatra, took home the prize for best R&B song for "No One" as well as best female R&B vocal performance.
The last award of the night was given to the very surprised jazz artist Herbie Hancock for album of the year, beating out both Winehouse and West.
Other winners included: Best male pop vocal performance: Justin Timberlake Producer of the year, non-classical: Mark Ronson Best Pop performance by a duo or group with vocals: Maroon 5 Best rock album: Foo Fighters Best contemporary R&B album: Ne-Yo Best rap/sung collaboration: "Umbrella," Rihanna featuring Jay-Z Best male country vocal performance: Keith Urban Best country album: "These Days," Vince Gill
