Chuck It

I don't know why I'm such a sucker for "design it yourself" thingamadoos. And yet I can easily kill 20 minutes dorking around with these things. And then not placing them in my cart. Here's what I created that I may or may not eventually place in my cart:

(Just feeling navy, I guess.) This is the slimmer, more feminine version of the classic Chuck Taylor: the All-Star Light Ox Canvas, $58. There are lots of colors—and not-recommended prints—to place hey-willy-nilly all over the shoe. And you can do this with lots of shoes, including crazy neon ones. Kill your 20 minutes today! Buying incentive, though: Everything at Converse is 20 percent off with code CHUCKS17 (expires May 25).

Dream, Reality, Nightmare Shoes: YSL, Keds, Converse...

You can decide which is which.

($295, YSL, Marissa Collections)
I'd get down on one knee and propose to these beauties. That painted wooden heel!!?!? I GOTS THA VAPORS!

($60, Keds)
You can customize yo own-ass Keds, or get some cute slip-ons like these, with the New York skyline on 'em! So cute with jeans a T, right? RIGHT!

I saw these in one of those giiiiito sneaker shops on Broadway near the Village, and they're proof positive that God may in fact be dead after all. Now if you'll excuse me, I've got some Nietzsche in which I will drown my sorrows and the multitude of sufferings these tripping bear Converse have inflicted upon me and other innocent passersby.

Nike McFlys Return to the Future, Finally

Attention sneaker freakers (actually, attention regular peeps, because sneakerheads probably already know this)... Twenty-one years into the future, you can FINALLY wear the once-fictitious Nike dunks Marty McFly made famous in Back to the Future II. The inspired-by sneakers are coming out later this summer and are, inexplicably, going to be repped by Kobe Bryant.

More here, here and here.

Need something more lo-tech? Delia's has 22 different colors of Converse:
