I'd Be Buying These Flutter By Jill Golden Statement Necklaces If Most Of My Paycheck Weren't Going To Rent

Don't get it twisted. I EFFING LOVE clothes. They're my porn. The only thing I love more than shopping for clothes and thinking about shopping for clothes and fantasizing about thinking about shopping for clothes is pasta. But jewelry's a close second. Especially chunky statement necklaces. But I'm at the point where I have a lot of dated shit I just need to get rid of (anyone want it?), and then I need to take the less-is-more approach. Or, rather, the fewer-newer approach. Have fewer pieces, and make them newer.

My all-time favorite necklace is my Pade Vavre horse necklace. These three horses have traveled a lot of miles and seen a lot. (Sometimes I fear that people I pass in the lobby at work or see at events are like "there goes that horse necklace girl again." Or, "Tamar? Oh, you mean the girl with the horse necklace?" Actually, I don't really care, but I do really wear it a lot.) It's not quite time for their retirement, but it's time to add a few more pieces to the stable. A big, bold necklace that goes with everything and that I love so much that I don't care if I wear it five times a week. Such as...

($400, Flutter By Jill Golden, FlutterNYC.com)
I just discovered Flutter By Jill Golden, and I'm so taken by the entire collection. I love how she takes pretty golds and stones and turns them into pieces are edgy but elegant. (And her studded jewelry is so understated, instead of intense, which I love, well, intensely.) Seriously, I saw this necklace and I was like THIS IS IT...

Until I saw this one:
($420, Flutter By Jill Golden, FlutterNYC.com)
I BRAKE for leather weaving!

Basically both of these necklaces elicited a Huey Lewis "If This Is It" reaction. So in love.

Oh Woe, Dannijo!

($585, Dannijo, Dannijo.com)
Oh Dannijo. Get OUT of my dreams and ONTO my neck.

I'm in the market for a new necklace. Like THE necklace. Like a necklace that's an entire outfit in and of itself. I even recently said to someone, someday my entire wardrobe will be all black with a different enormous statement necklace for every day of the year. I consider this reasonable. Amen.

Thief & Bandit Makes My Very Favorite T-Shirt

($40, Thief & Bandit, Etsy)

My little sister lives in Richmond, Virginia, and she has tons of friends who are making cool things that I always want to buy. Often I'm super lucky and she buys them for me! Such as my very favorite t-shirt made by her friend Amie Cunningham who created Thief & Bandit -- it's all handmade, and it's all fun, craftsy shirts with fun, tribal-inspired squiggles and designs, and fabric accessories in bright colors. JUST LOOK at that t-shirt and TELL me it doesn't remind you of all things Tom Tom Club!

($48, Thief & Bandit, Etsy)
I hope you like this fabric necklace, but I hope you don't like it as much as I do, because I really want it. So I can wear it with a white t and a blazer. Or maybe even a busy t-shirt, because busy is the new black.

Check out Thief & Bandit's site, their blog, and Thief & Bandit on Etsy and get to buying cute stuff!!

It Happened At The Hester Street Fair

The Hester Street Fair is an unmissable outdoor flea that's been happening down in the Lower Lower East Side every Saturday and Sunday since spring. It's a perfectly curated collection of delicious local food (admittedly today I had my third lobster roll from the Luke's Lobster stand), handmade goods, vintage clothing and accessories (SOOOOO much vintage jewelry), and new, handmade jewelry. Like Cynthia Rybakoff's great handmade jewelry. I admired her simple yet absolutely beguiling rock crystal necklace on a silver chain (but not long enough to buy it -- I was trying to resist giving into my impulse-spending tendencies, but I really should've picked this up, as it's on my mind hours later). She managed to take something as rough and unpredictable as a crystal and make it look elegant yet edgy. Even better -- it's called the Fortress of Solitude necklace. Also, thank you for reclaiming crystals from Spencer Pratt.

Non-New Yorkers, you're in luck. It's available online. Everybody wins!

Brooklyn & Lyn's Agate Rope Necklaces = I JUST CAN'T.

($185, Brooklyn&Lyn, Shop.brooklyandlyn.com, Via Refinery29)
Oh. My... Word. I just... I just cannot even... See straight. Is there anything more beautiful under the sun than this Brook&Lyn agate necklace? This necklace IS the sun.

This Bow Necklace Is NOT Subtle

The bow necklace trend is cute and innocuous enough. But as in life, drinking, and accessorizing, one needs limits.
($28, Claire Fong, Lulus.com)
This just looks like you killed Minnie Mouse and mounted your prey.

More Reasons To Love The LOFT: Fabs Necklaces For Under $50!

Remember when I had a conniption, but in the GOOD way, about how Ann Taylor Loft -- BTDubs, it's now just The Loft -- totally came back after falling off? Okay, so here are two more reasons The LOFT went from bad to rad:
($49.50, Loftonline.com)
What is there NOT to love about this amazing clear gem statement necklace? Not a damn thing, my friend. Not. a. thing.

($44.50, Loftonline.com)
It's like a fucking retro Christmas tree for your neck.

Kate Spade Bow Necklace

($125, Kate Spade)
Ugh. MUST you? I loathe this necklace, and I LOVE ridiculous, huge necklaces. Dookie chains even. But you're a GROWN-ASS WOMAN. You do NOT need to be dressing like a giant Christmas present.

MOAR Peacock Pretties: One-Of-A-Kind Marta Per Necklace & Super Fancy Peacock Clutch

More peacock indulgences I wish I could indulge in!

($240, Marta Per, Farfetch.com)
Amazing bib-style necklace fashioned out of three vintage brooches. And the cock of the walk -- a peacock. Seriously, look at the handmade handiwork, craft, and creativity that went into this.

($1495, Raven Kauffman, Vivre.com)
This gold-grille-front (GRILLED!) peacock clutch is practically equivalent to my rent. Too bad it's not big enough to live in.

Got $38? You NEED To Get This Rhinestone Necklace.

It's kinda hard to find a rhinestone statement necklace that doesn't look like a cheap pile of plastic shise or something you'd buy in plastic bubble wrap in the "fun" aisle at the grocery store. So please do yourself a favor and check out this Urban rhinestone necklace. It was designed by the ladies at BleachBlack.com.

Statement Piece Lust: Necklaces By Adia Kibur

($170, Adia Kibur, Chickdowntown.com)
"Likes this."

($55, Adia Kibur, Cusp.com)
Oooh. Almost chain-maille-y but still femme.

($125, Adia Kibur, Shopkitson.com)
Delightful overcrafted. I love it. I think I have a bridal shower coming up. Is it possible for me to register for gem bib necklaces? Please?

Binge Impulse Buy! Perfume Shirt, Peacock Necklace

So, I've had an absolutely CRAPTASTIC couple of days. Wah wah wah wah, call the wambulance. I effed my back and ended up at the doctor (Dr. Busey, as I like to call him, because he totally has Gary's chompers), with all sorts of needles up in my shit, and my hand's all fucked up too. WORST. Then I got home yesterday and my neighbor's toilet overflowed, which wouldn't have been so bad if it HADN'T OVERFLOWED INTO MY BATHROOM. It was raining both OUTSIDE AND inside -- in my God damned bathroom. AWESOME.

So, when I wasn't downing painkillers, I indulged in some MUCH-needed e-tail therapy.
($68, Joyrich, Kitson)
I have NO idea why. It was just a good idea at the time. (Same with that sugar-packed Starbucks McSugar Shake thing I had yesterday after the doctor's office, where they also did some nerve testing where they taped all these electrodes onto my legs and flipped the switch and electrocuted me like I was like fucking Jeffrey Dahmer. Well, that's not how he died, but you get my point.) Oh, but promo code "Kitsoncode" saved me 10%. WOOT!

($7.99, Charlotte Russe)
I HAAAATE leather cords, but it's got PEACOCK feathers attached, so the choice was obvious. Free shipping with Charlotte Russe promo code: "AFFFS."

BTW, Charlotte Russe has some really cute stuff coming up for fall. It's funny -- EVERYONE is scrambling to keep up with Topshop. Be on the lookout for some definitely cute jeans and jackets -- but they're like Topshop prices too at $99-ish. Worth it? You tell me. I only have this peacock necklace to go by.

Someone, save me.

Binge Lust: Tarina Tarantino Electric KoolAid Bib Necklace + Tarina Tarantino In-Store Event In NYC Saturday July 25

($740, Tarina Tarantino)
I fully endorse EVERY single piece of Tarina Tarantino's Electric Kool-Aid collection, but her bib necklace is the standout. This piece is like tasting every color of the rainbow -- like doing acid, minus the nasty flashblacks and 40-pound spiders crawling up your face! Win!

Oh yeah, and check out her subtle but stunning, wedding-worthy 1930s Art Deco Lucite drop earrings, which come in a handful of flavors. If they matched my wedding dress, I'd absolutely wear these day ofs.

($55, Tarina Tarantino)

ALSO, if you're in NYC, stop by the Soho store TOMORROW -- Saturday, July, 25 for Tarina's book signing!

FINALLY, THANK YOU, Sparkle Factory, for the FashionBinge shoutout! RAWX!

Leather Bridal Bracelets -- Because You Just Don't See Enough Of Those

($107, Littmack, Manjoh.com)
ZOMG I love these soft leather embroidered Littmarck bracelets. The grey one is wedding-able, no?

($55, Day Birger et Mikkelsen, Manjoh.com)
Also, speaking of Manjoh, uh, this Day Birger et Mikkelsen necklace is on cuckoo sale. Ahhh! #linebetweenwantsandneedssteadilyblurring

I Would Step Over Your Mother For This Arielle de Pinto Necklace

($238, Arielle de Pinto, CreaturesofComfort)
I would seriously step over your mother or push your grandma in front of a bike messenger for this mixed-media necklace by Montreal designer Arielle de Pinto. There is no way in FUCK I could make it -- she crotchets metal (!??!), and the little ceramic triangles are hand-painted. I want this so bad it hurts.

Check out more Arielle de Pinto pieces at lambsearshoes.com and No6store.com.

Lisa K: The Perfect Gold Heart Necklace

If this were just a regular little gold heart on a chain I'd probably be so bored I'd be falling asleep into my keyboard and end up with little imprints of the home keys all up in my cheeks. But I LOVE the little baby heart and the hammered mama heart (kinda like my own mama, who was always hammered -- JUST KIDDING, MA! You KNOW you can't hold your alcohol!) and the delicate little pearl accents.

($80, Lisa K, Badjoan.com)

I Bought It Files: Vera Wang For Kohl's Multi-Strand Necklace

As much as I love Vera Wang's jewelry, this real-deal necklace is $1,250 at Saks.

Solution? Simply Vera -- Vera Wang For Kohl's!

($28.80, Kohl's)
I'm wearing it right now as I type this. I love the little faceted discs and box chain. And it's actually made pretty well and looks rad against a black t-shirt. Also, I feel like I saved $1221.20! See how good I am at saving money?

Speaking of money, have you donated to my Avon Breast Cancer Walk?

Ariel Gordon: Not-Boring Wedding Rings For Not A Fortune

($1,240, Ariel Gordon)
Check out L.A. jewelry designer Ariel Gordon's wonderfully modern geometrical 14-karat gold "Hex" ring with diamond points. I'd definitely wear this as a wedding ring (except I'm going to try to uphold the Jewish tradition of wearing a solid, unbroken band with no ornamentation or stones.) Of course, I'd wear it ANYWAY as a REGULAR ring if someone would like to purchase it for me, say, as a gift for being an awesome blogger. The Hex ring also comes in 10-karat gold for $880.

I love how modern and clean it is but also quietly chic AND kind of looks like a nut. Not like a squirrel nut but like whatever people who use tools use for things.

Also, Ariel won Shopstyle's emerging designer competition, so if you enter "SHOPSTYLE" on Ariel Gordon's site, you can get 25% off your purchase!... Of the Hex ring... for me!

... Plus, check out Spike pendant:
($315, Ariel Gordon)
Which would look positively smart AND menancing with... EVERYTHING (on me!)

Joan Holloway's Gold Pen Necklace: FOUND!

OMJ! It's Joan Holloway's pen necklace!

($20, 1928, 1928.com)
So, follow me here. Bust Mag scoped this on 1928.com, then Coquette picked it up, and then I saw it on Budget Fashionista. Anyway, not that I'm opposed to dressing under the influence of Joan Holloway, but I wouldn't wear it because it's a little overly specific. I AM, however, glad it exists in the world.

Also, check out the Don Draper couch I found at CB2. Thanks, Racked, for giving it some lurfs.
