The Scoop On Barbie Loves Stila!

Barbie Loves Stila is the holy trinity of cute packaging, nostalgic licensing, and a good deal on beauty products. JACKPOTx3! The limited-edition collection launches in February at Sephora in honor of Babs' 50th birthday.

The collection includes four $40 "Decades of Beauty" paint cans, which come with a compact with two eyeshadows and a cheek color, mascara, lipgloss, and a lookbook, and feature four different dolls --- Ponytail Doll, for the very first Barbie in 1959; Malibu Barbie, from 1971 (my favorite because she looks a little like "Dazed & Confused" Barbie); Foxy Doll, in honor of the first Black doll released in 1980 (little late to the party there, Mattel? I'm pretty sure Black people were around a little before 1980); and 2000's Jewel Doll, who looks like old-school Britney.

Also part of the collection: a Barbie talking eye palette style. The Barbie for Stila products will also be used to Barbie-fy the models in the Barbie fashion show happening at New York Fashion Week in Febs.

My recs:
($18, Stila)
Run, don't walk, to get Stila's Kajal eye pencil in "Topaz," which is a matte peachy hue. Total eye brightening situation that does a fine job of offsetting dramatic lips, or un-dullifying otherwise sorta blah eyes. Like that? "Un-duliffying"?

($18, Stila)
I haven't tried it yet, but Stila's Long Wear Lip Color in "Darling," which is a golden champagne, looks amaze.

Now go make your lips look like this:

Stila's Three New Talking Eye Palettes

HEY LAYYYYDEEEEZE!

Stila just announced the launch of three brand-new talking eye palettes, which I've displayed in order of my desire. I love the Complete Night to Day Look palette because it's got lip color too, and the middle one -- The Sapphires smokey eye palette -- looks beauts, but would it looks fearful with my already blue eyes? I don't know.

The Stila talking eye palettes are $40, and they really do have an actually little mini person in there who guides you through each step of creating a smoky eye. That said, despite Stila's best efforts and intentions, I STILL can't pull off this look without ending up looking like I stayed up for two weeks straight and then got punched in both eyes. Who, oh who, can show me the light?

Quasi-relevant video: The Real McCoy, "Another Night." (Get it? I "talk talk"? GET it?)

Cute Spring Things + Rogan For Target

Springy things you should buy... some of which I have bought!

($115, Casch Copenhagen, ActiveEndeavors.com)
Sporty but femme but not SUPER boring either. Wee!

($69, Shoes for Lovely People, Modcloth.com)
If these Shoes For Lovely People flats from my beloved Mod Cloth aren't the absolute embodiment of spring, then I certain just do not know what is.

($34, Steve Madden)
Bought these Steve Madden "Skiip" cut out flats on super sale in-store the other day. Also got them in black. Since I'm vehemently opposed to flip-flops and most sandals, these will make a great alternative and a nice change of pace to when I get temporarily sick of ballet flats.

($40, Stila, Sephora)
True, the topic is SPRING products, and this is Stila's Summer Eye Shadow Palette, but I can't help getting ahead of myself when faced with the "Sun" shade -- the peachy one at the far right. NEED!!!

($11, I'm Your Present, Etsy)
Girlie-kitsch Etsy seller I'm Your Present always has the raddest shit ever, like these vintage unicorn earrings. And if they're all sold out, it's because I just bought this pair from her the other week, and they're even better in real life. So, sorry suckahs! But do check out her other stuff too.

($44.99, Rogan for Target)
Ooh, so I went to the Rogan for Target media event at Barney's the other night. Like the collaboration itself, it was... weird. I mean... it's Target stuff... at Barney's... (more on that weirdness at WWD), and aside from the few animal graphic t-shirts that looked like H&M fare
and other animal print stuff that I didn't love, there were some good, basic safari-style pieces, and some simple yet sophisticated bits, like the plaid linen jumper above. I didn't get that, but I did get the plaid linen top:

($26, Rogan for Target)
Oh, and I saw Gregory Rogan at the event. He was cute. Fashionindie has an interview with him. And I saw Waris Ahluwalia and Simon Doonan, who could fit in the above model's pocket. And Diane Kruger, who's very goddesslike, if she's your idea of a goddess. Some other famous, skinny, and famous and skinny people who I didn't recognize were there too.

The eco-friendly collection hits almost all Target stores May 18. Go stock up on the loose, highly layerable tanks, like so:

I Finally Met mark.

And seriously, we got along FAMOUSLY, I tell you. I got this mark. (the Avon-for-cool-kids spin-off line) lip gloss in a Makeup Alley swap -- it's a Shine Tube Hook-Up Lip Gloss in Butter Cream, but it looks like this one is an older product. Its newer iteration is Buttercreme Brioche -- which sounds much fancier:

Anyway, it's a really light neutral-goldish shade that basically just illuminates and enhances your lips with a light shiny glaze. It reminds me a bit of Stila's Lip Glaze in Vanilla, but honestly, I like mark. better (sorry, Stila!), as it's lighter and not as goopy and sticky. And, not to mention, it's way cheaper.

I couldn't find a photo of the product itself, but the swatch is above. Here's the same product in Crème Caramel:
($5, mark.)
I'd also deffo like to try the Sugared Almond -- you get a free connector to attach both products together when you buy two -- and for $5 each, I think I WILL!
