Anna Nicole Smith won a long-running battle in a D.C. court today that permits her to pursue part of her late husband's fortune, which has been estimated at over $1.5 billion. Smith shed tears in the courtroom while justices decided whether or not she had been provided for financially by J. Howard Marshall. Justices decided that a former ruling by the U.S. Court of Appeals disallowing Smith from pursuing her claim in federal court was wrong. The former Playboy playmate received over $6 million in houses, jewelry and gifts from the oil tycoon before his death and she alleges that he promised her half of his estate. Mayhem ensued outside the court when several photographers were knocked to the ground while trying to photograph her arrival.
